NFLA GOLF CLASSIC IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING

Golf chairman Gordy Soltau says:

The 2003 NFLA Golf Classic is scheduled for June 30, at the San Francisco Olympic Club. We have started our regular golf committee meetings at the Redwood City office each Monday at 4:00PM. A boost to our committee is the presence of Frank "Fudge Hammer" Nunley, who has taken over the chairmanship of the sponsor committee. His team consists of All Pros: President Jerry Mertens and Lonesome Larry Schreiber who also serves as chairman of the Celebrity Captains, Chuck Cushere who is chairman of the Legends Magazine. Don "Handyman" Hack, Gary Rowe, David "Blackie" Blackmon, and Len Rhode.

Soltau goes on to say: This will be our 22nd Golf Classic. In that time, we have generated over $1.5 million for our "Caring for Kids" program. All our members are to be congratulated for their tireless efforts in making our Golf Classic a success. If you have a contact, either a company or an individual that you think would be interested in participating as a sponsor or a player, contact Frank Nunley at 650 366-3659.

NFL Alumni Children's Hospital & Salvation Army Visits A Big Success

The NFL Alumni's annual visits to the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, the Oakland Children's Hospital and the Redwood City Salvation Army were very successful this past holiday season.

At the Children's Hospitals, in the true spirit of Caring for Kids, former players and Associate members distributed teddy bears, toys, and general good cheer to a very appreciative group of the most courageous young men and women that you would ever have the pleasure of meeting. At the Salvation Army Distribution Center, former players and associate members helped to fill and distribute food baskets and gifts to needy families.
