Winning teams from more than 25 tournaments earn a trip to compete for the coveted Super Bowl of Golf ring. The Super Bowl of Golf ring is presented to each member of the Super Bowl of Golf championship team. The ring, designed by Jostens, maker of 23 of 40 Super Bowl rings, is a masive 10 carat yellow gold ring featuring a raised football with NFL Alumni Super Bowl of Golf and National Champions. Prizes are also awarded to the members of the second and third place teams. The Super Bowl of Golf is played on the nations' finest courses. The NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classics The NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic series of tournaments is a unique vehicle for aggressive marketers involved in sports and related areas to reach a high-quality audience of top corporate executives, affluent sportsmen and civic leaders. The series and the Super Bowl of Golf Championship event offer advertising, public relations and promotional opportunities at every level from national sponsorships to local advertising and promotions, including contributions in kind and cause-related marketing possibilities in more than 25 markets. Quality one-day, 18-hole team scramble play in a shotgun format, with golfers playing on teams captained by the legends of professional football. The tournaments are played on some of the finest curses in the country, including Firestone in Akron, Oakmont in Pittsburgh, Winged Foot in New York, and Olympic in San Francisco. The Alumni handicapping system permits every golfer to complete on an equal basis; the winning fivesome is invited to complete in the Super Bowl of Golf for the national championship and the massive Super Bowl of Golf ring. Celebrities Alumni tournaments often attract home team players, coaches and owners. Other celebrities have included Bob Hope, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Lemmon, Perry Como, Willie Nelson; alumni from other sports including Bill Russell and Billy Cunningham from basketball, Gordie Howe and Bobby Clarke from hockey, Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays from baseball; Lunar Astronauts Gene Cernan and Alan Shepard, and many others. Charities Alumni chapters select charities to benefit according to local needs. More that 175 charities have benefited from the tournament series.
