On Wednesday, August 13th, the NFL Alumni Northern California Chapter went to the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital and brought significant joy to veterans, their families and staff.

Word spread through the sprawling complex located in the Palo Alto foothills that a group of Alumni headed by chapter president Steve Kinney and including Gordy Soltau, Jerry Mertens, Len Rohde, Dave Fiore, Gary Weaver, Jeremy Brigham, and Monte Clark were preparing a BBQ lunch.

A tri tip and sausage lunch was prepared by "chef extrodanire" Lance Williams and served to 275 appreciative folks by associate members Diane Kneis (as well as her daughter DeAnna), Lorry Greenberg, Don Hack, Pierre Spear, Kathy Williams, Walter Hogue, and David August.

The lunch was served to vets, families and staff of the Polytrauma Rehab Center, Polytrauma Rehab Program, and the Spinal Cord Injury Unit.
