Charities

Alumni chapters select charities to benefit according to local needs. More that 175 charities have benefited from the tournament series. They include the Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald Houses, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs, major disease foundations, children's homes and hospitals, the NFL Alumni Foundation, and NFL Alumni Youth of America programs.

The National Football Teague (NFL) Alumni Association is an IRS-approved 501 © (3) charity utilizing the support and strength of many former NFL players who are dedicated to giving back to the community. For nearly two decades, members of the NFL Alumni have worked to fulfill the organization's stated mission of Caring for Kids.

Letter from our Chapter President

Dear Participants and Sponsors:

As President of the NFL Alumni Northern California Chapter, I thank you for your generous support in our mission, Caring for Kids. The NFL Alumni member players are bound by a shared experience, and the unique character of our organization is that our retired NFL players desire to be role models to help others, especially young people.

Every young person, both boys and girls, has dreams of becoming an outstanding professional adult someday. As a boy, I too experienced these dreams-to become a speed skater...a gold medal winner in the Olympic games. But NFL football came into play. As a St. Mary's grade schooler in Racine, Wisconsin I played in the city's Catholic football league with high hopes to become a Green Bay Packer someday. This passion to play professional football continued throughout my high school and college years. In all of these years the sports were great, but hard wok is required to be a scholar athlete and achieve the best possible academic standard

With these dreams and hard work both on the athletic field and in the classroom, I became a San Francisco 49er. For this I feel very good about passing on the dreams to our youngsters today, that they too can fulfill their dreams with the desire and passion to accomplish their goals.

Thanks again for your desire to help others and thank you for your commitment to Caring for Kids.

Sincerely,

Steve Kinney
President
